Pride

By: Kitsune

It's late at night, or very early morning

Your words play over in my head Echoes

I could strike you, if you weren't my friend

I still might one day

One wrong action, a spiteful thing

Is a betrayal of my trust Given only once

That I will never forgive, how could you?

And never forget, why would you?

Severing the contacts between us

A cat-o-nine tails on my heart

Adding new lashes to the old scars Bleeding

But who are you to say such things? To strike

To do what you knew would hurt me.

Who do you think I am, to take such a thing

And not retaliate. Such cold eyes in my mirror

Be careful, my no longer friend

I am ice and control to the core Burning

Strictly remote, I will remove myself from your view

I banish your name and face Forever

To the lowest of the seven Hades

In the long nights, in the dark

I will cloak my pain until it fades Agonizing

To be a solitary figure watching

The full moon rise.

Alone
