it landed on the leaf

barely a shudder through the branch

yet, the tree shrinks back

the leaf shrivels and falls

the butterfly flutters

kiss

they laughed together

he ran away and left her laughing

watching the clouds drift by

giggling on the grass

down it fluttered

wings brushing her cheek

softly it landed on lips then forehead

she drew her last deep breath

let out a soft sigh that

set wings to flight
