The Price of Thoughtfulness

The Price of Thoughtfulness

I am most truly sorry, and

I hope you don’t think me

Cheap and

Thoughtless,

But I was to bring you a

Pretty flower

To brighten the otherwise dreary day.

Yet seeing that this is late in season

I couldn’t find a good flower for the occasion.

I have now come to realize

That

Even if I had found the perfect flower and

Had been able to keep it fresh until I finally

Found you,

It would have withered in your presence nonetheless.

For, spying on such a magnificent being, it would have

Given up

Beauty.

How could it compete against the beautiful creature before it?

Yet in saving a poor flower’s reputation

I have encumbered a

Special friend’s

Day.

So, once again my most sincere apologies

But I really am glad

To see you

Again.
