The Gods Made A Mistake

By: Fox

They slept on tinted red ground. The shine of the moonlight made the dead faces glow a ghastly pearl. Their eyes stared into the moon, never letting go. The clothes that had once warmed a body were now a cocoon of saving flesh from cannibals. They were faded with age. This was the time of blood. Anguish had killed these mortals, nothing else.

The night was supposed to be dreary. The clouds were supposed to be crying tears of rain, mourning for those the planet had lost. The sky was supposed to rumbling in anger, screaming at those who had done this. The gods were supposed to be angry, throwing down spears to kill those who had destroyed the eve with destruction.

No, the night was clear. The ground was dry and cracking, tears had not been shown in this land for seasons. There was no screaming, only a soft breeze pushing past the region of terror, making a quick escape. The gods were not angry, nor were they mourning of the loss.

The gods seemed, no, not happy, only satisfied. They had gotten what they deserved. The arguments had been so pointless. The fault had been from both side, and both paid dearly for it. The hunger of them could not satisfy their own desire. They must have more of what put them on high.

The only way to do this was to move from place to place, with the gods smiling down on them. The killed in ways never thought of, ways no one had ever dreamed of. Vivid images would never leave the survivors minds. They enjoyed the pain the caused, and this was their flaw.

The gods only asked for them to punish ones deemed unworthy. They had made it a game, not a job. They had made it enjoyable, it became an insatiable craving. The urge to kill had driven them mad, they laughed at it now. The insanity was over-whelmingly

common in those met.

The stars had been shining for them, the moon had been glowing. Now, the New Moon deceived them. The stars were covered by a layer of hatred and angry tears. Hot tears that burned flesh. The gods were angry and struck the hidden ones with energy.

They still laughed madly, even when their own kind were being eaten by acid and others burning till nothing was left. They joined in, killing each other. the same way they had murdered others. Very few were left standing, the sane ones. The gods not cried sadly and light rain sprinkled the ground. The wind was blowing fiercely as the gods howled in agony.

The gods had made a mistake.
