Shattered Reality (A Prologue)
By: Julsey
(Okay, this is the prologue to my Shattered Reality series. It's very short! Only a couple of paragraphs, but I just wanted to set something up. It was meant to be brief. I have not had a chance to check for grammar errors, so I apologize in advance.)
Can there exist a world without Magic? Some, those non-believers, the skeptics, would say yes, of course; there is no such thing as Magic. Others might smile secretively and shrug, leaving you to wonder just what it is that they know. Still, others would nod enthusiastically and declare, without a shadow of doubt, that Magic exists, and every world has its own forms of Magic.
So let’s say that Magic is real. What if there was a world that could not, or would not, tolerate Magic? What would happen to a creature of Magic, one who had the gift threaded into its entire being, who suddenly found itself transported to such a world, a world whose environment did not support Magic? Reality for this creature would change drastically, even shatter, in an instant.
I am Ellaren, granddaughter of the great Chronicler of Thesla, Elfrain. What shall follow these words is the tale of one such creature of Magic, Cerai’lin by name. In a single moment, her entire reality was changed and she found herself thrown from her home world into a new one, a new one hostile to Magic.
